What American accent do you have?
Your Result: North Central

"North Central" is what professional linguists call the Minnesota accent. If you saw "Fargo" you probably didn't think the characters sounded very out of the ordinary. Outsiders probably mistake you for a Canadian a lot.

Yep. THAT bored...
but hey, im JAMES BOND! so who cares!

You scored as James Bond, Agent 007. James Bond is MI6's best agent, a suave, sophisticated super spy with charm, cunning, and a license's to kill. He doesn't care about rules or regulations and somewhat amoral. He does care about saving humanity though, as well as the beautiful women who fill his world. Bond has expensive tastes, a wide knowledge of many subjects, and his usually armed with a clever gadget and an appropriate one-liner.

PRIDE Kingston
yep, thats right, kingston had its very own pride parade today and i found out when i was nearly blasted out of my apt by some very effective speakers playing Christina's 'fighter". it was quite tame compared to TO's parade, just a bunch of ppl in colourful outfits walking down the street with ONE police cruiser leading in front and one following behind - yep, very tame. and when i say "colourful", i mean that literally - this is small town kingston afterall. still, it was interesting to see - especially since i dont think it was advertised anywhere - people were coming out of the shops, or stopping in the streets to watch going "oh, its a parade" "oh its a pride parade". the thing i found slightly amusing was that the New NDP came out as well, and held a small banner to bring up the rear of the parade. it was just interesting to see a political party siding with a group - in so far as to march in their parade, i doubt we'd ever see this in the toronto counterpart.

MMVAs
wow those were some sucky performers this year - mostly cuz i dont care for any of them. well, except for Metric but im not sure if they performed. honestly couldnt sit through that show and i just watched the red-carpet event before tuning in every now and again.
what was up with Missari arriving in two lamborghinis? he didnt even drive the second one! it just followed him there, got shown on camera, and then drove off again. um...dood, to date you only have ONE "hit". take it easy with the spending eh? nice cars tho, too bad he was in it to ruin that scenic pic.

i was kinda surprised paris hilton was there, though it may be just to promote her new song. did anybody else find her
new single oddly catchy? i know i know, youre probably shocked that i just admitted to watching her new video. in my own defense, it was not planned on and i happened to catch it when flipping through MOD. anyway, the catchiness may not have anything to do with her voice/lyrics so much as it is the typical reggae music for the background tunes?beats? whats the proper term - i have no idea. ya moving on, a warning if youre actually gonna click that link though - you might not want to WATCH the video so much as just listen to it. all her writhing makes for a pretty dizzying video.

nick lachey - nicely done with the salvaging of your career. i wouldnt have paid so much attention to him - but that was before i saw his performance, and the fact that when he turned his mic to the audience and they ACTUALLY KNEW THE WORDS to his dippy little song. way to follow in Justin's "cry me a river" footsteps, seriously, nicely done. i wonder if his conversation with his managers went anything like this:
NL: "ok, so now that ive ridden that whole marriage horse till it dropped dead, what can i do now to get back into the media limelight?"
mngrs: "well, how 'bout you portray a hurt/sensitive side to win back the little girls who worshipped you before you got married?"
NL: "genius. i'll just pull a justin timberlake"

as for nelly furtado...ah how youve fallen from grace. i havnt listened to her whole album yet, but if "promiscuous" is any indicator, im not sure i want to listen to it. her music was interesting before, at least you could hear her voice, the musical instruments, etc, but now everything is synthasized and shes rapping and dancing?? im sorry but thats just something she should NOT do. i'll admit, the song has a catchy tune but it just sounds BAD when performed live - and i keep running into it on tv: letterman, leno, mmva's. its just bad all over. leave the dancing to the dancers, and with her all talent im saddened that she has resorted to such mainstream crap. oh well, whatever sells i suppose - at least she gets a new mp3 phone.

Tis the Year....for canadian artists to sell-out
so far ive seen/heard commercials for:
- nelly furtado (obviously) for rogers? or is it just mp3 phone companies? ya, so theres that
- chantel kreviazuk! awww. so there was one for CIBC, and then an actual commercial for hairdye. uh...garnier i think?
- feist for lacoste - wow she bagged a big fish.
thats all i can remember right now, but let me know if you come across any others. im not sure that i actually care that much about this, afterall, whats the point of becoming famous if youre not gonna make some moola off of it. it cant all be about the music.

now, onto more Important Things...ME

kingston has finally become hot enough for me to wear shorts and tanktops - not that i was looking fwd to it, im just saying. stating. im more of a winter person, when things (like bugs and all things creepy-crawly) are dead. however, its really cool at night and i really want to take a walk outside in the dead middle of the night, but im afraid of the crazy ppl lurking in street corners, otherwise im sure id take nightly trips to A&P (espcially RIGHT NOW cuz im outta cream and my coffee tastes like crap with watered down milk. what a waste...of coffee)

"turkey bacon is NOT bacon!" - grace (from Will & Grace) had it right. that line was from some episode that i cant remember, when she yells at Will for buying turkey bacon instead of the real thing. ANYWAY, i was walking around the supermarket and bought turkey bacon partly cuz of that line (yaya, quiet you), and cuz it really looked interesting. i suppose its one of those things that just taste better in your mind than it does in actual life. im not sure how to describe it, it doesnt taste like turkey, for one, but not quite like real bacon either (which is, apparently, what they were going for. go figure). its KINDA precooked, but it instructs you to cook it anyway - traditional skillet, or MICROWAVE (thats just so gross it needed to be capitalized). heres the disturbing bit, frying it in a skillet actually produces NO fat from the material. this depends on whether or not youve actually prepared your own bacon before, but if not, let me tell you that real bacon produces A LOT of fat; turkey bacon? not so much. kinda disturbing, but at least i know of what im NOT ingesting so i guess thats a sorta comfort in disguise. moral of the story? buy the real thing. but i guess you already knew that, didnt you? (yeah, shaddap)

in search of new, good music.
this summer is proving to be one with craptacular music. im bored with everything i have. send me stuff - to my email, my msn, a link to this blog, whatever. ive resorted to surfing indie blogs and sites in my hunt for some new sounds and while ive come up with some stuff, i cant find it anywhere. forget about torrents (which would be nice) but i mean theyre either so new, or so underground that major cd stores dont even sell them yet. searches on amazon has come up empty! thats quite amazing if even amazon doesnt have it. anyhoozle, so you either have to order the cd off their site, or scour the net looking for singles. a good place to listen, but never own, is myspace.com. i duno how it happened, but suddenly myspace has become the biggest thing in the music world. you can find any band there - but oddly, not always mainstream bands/artists.

anyway, send me music

oh speaking of indie artists, this reminds me of bedouin soundclash. i was watching the show "diary" (you can watch clips of it under "browse shows") and they were following bedouin on the days leading up to/incl. the Juno awards. so it was the day before the awards and the band was onstage doing a soundcheck and were noticing who was sitting where - like the oscars where the chairs were taped with a printout name/pic of the artist sitting there. anyway, they saw michael buble's chair and Jay kept saying over and over "fucking buble..." :D haha and that continued through to the end of the show. they never explained it but it was so funny to hear. just every now and again this contemptuous voice in the background going "fucking buble..." hehe

eh, so i think this blog has gone on long enough. i'll post other random things i notice in another post.
the rest of the world should be waking up in the next 2hrs or so, *I* on the otherhand, will be going to sleep around that time.

and they say Kingston is boring...

who wouldve thought that there would be drag races in such a small town. who knew you could even have pimped out cars here! and with cop cars circling the downtown strip every 15 min you wouldve thought that theyd have more sense, but i suppose its true when they say that Stupidity knows no bounds.

revving your engines at 3 in the morning does nothing but irritate those around you - actually, thats true at ANY time of day. it is not an indicator of your "coolness", and it is certainly not a demonstration of your manliness . go get your mufflers fixed and stop disturbing the peace and polluting my air.

i will never understand why the idiots driving past in their cars will insist on having EVERYONE around them hear their bass. yes we get it, your stereo system costs more than your car and you have poor taste in music, and when the real pimps & gangsta's from da 'hood finally hunt you down to shoot you, youll have nobody to blame but yourself.

the gaffaws of the fools, the hyucks of the idiots, and the chortles of the impudent fat-men. just shoot me now, or them - either way one of us has to go, im sorry. the world continues to baffle me and im left standing on the sidewalk dazed, stunned, and with my jaw scraping the pavement.

are you appalled? so am i.

oh i forgot to mention my fantastic discovery on my last post, but it's so fantastic that i think it warrants its very own post!

COOKING BLOGS!

being as bored as i usually am, i have a tendancy to click on blogs with interesting sounding names and while i really cant remember how i got here, THIS is what made me stay :D I havnt actually made them yet, but they look GOO-OOD.

and if you've found one cooking blog, you've pretty much found them all:
I like her and i think ive actually used a couple of her recipes but i dont remember which ones, they may have been baked goods.
And also this one - just because the instructions are so easy to follow and the pictures depict such yummy final products.
Oh and i found this one...somehow or another...and it is just an *excellent* cooking community. most recipes have a nutritional chart on the side and makes it really easy to find those healthier recipes. plus, you can save recipes to your account, the homepage automatically shows you your 'recently viewed' recipes, and you can search for recipes that have the highest ratings from others who've made it. (wow, i should be paid advertising fees. but it is an awesome site :P)

thats right everybody, my name is wnd and i am a cooking-blog addict. they is wonderful! and especially for a sad excuse of a cook such as myself, i love the fact that these bloggers have actually made the recipes theyve posted (most of them anyway) and so have suggestions, comments from others who've tried it, and scrump-diddly-umtious PICTURES! how can you possibly go wrong? you just cant! so happy clicking and cooking everyone! yay, FOOD!

it's now 4am on a sunday night, and once again i find myself unable to sleep. you wonder how im able to screw up my sleep schedule on such a tight school schedule - 9am classes everyday, and since it's accelerated, i cant skip them to sleep in either. I have no idea how i can be so talented in such matters.

anyway, i find myself really liking to living on my own. i'll admit that sometimes going for days without being to able to rant/talk to others really get to me, but i think that just pushes me to contribute more in class - which is always a good thing i suppose. i like having the whole house to myself: knowing where everything is, creating messes i dont feel guilty about, blasting my music such that i hear it from the kitchen (if only to piss off the neighbours), baking at 3am just because im bored and want to, food shopping for myself, and (even though i cant and everything turns to mush) cooking for myself.

not that i didnt love living with the girls, but im enjoying coming home to absolutely nothing - no people, no noise whatsoever. if i want anything, i have to create it - food, sounds, entertainment, or company. it is a very odd grasp at control but it is surprisingly satisfying to possess it - if only for a little while longer.

despite living on my own for only a month, ive found that my senses have been dulled (or maybe it's just my imagination). maybe i should stretch first before my trips back to TO? food sensitivity is my own fault - coffee being the strongest taste i take in. im using no salt or sauces of any kind in my 'cooking' and usually just use light seasoning, which makes everything really healthy but just very bland tasting. so of course my taste buds are shocked back into existence when i go back to TO and eat out every day for virtually every meal. though my sugar content is the same as always, so yay for me :P

have you ever gone for long stretches of time without talking to anyone, and then thrown back into everyday conversations with others and feel exhausted afterwards - even with really interesting conversations - and think that perhaps you should have done facial-expression stretches first...? ya, me neither :P

restaurants are LOUD and full of SCREAMING people.
but then again, it could just be me not being used to it seeing as how what i "blast" is classical music and you dont really have to listen to it so much as just let it wash over you. so what does that mean? i dont know...cant seem tofind my train of thought. it either has something to do with be MORE sensitive to highs and lows of sound, or that everything seems louder because youre not used to it.
oh wait, thats the same thing.

excellent. time for sleep.

OPERATIONS COORDINATOR!!!!!
I got iiiinnn!!!!! yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! congratulations to MEEE!
AWESTASTIC! so it turns out that i was an "outstanding candidate" :D
so kewl so cool.

in other news. i FINALLY got my stupid laptop sleeve that ive been hunting for since DAY 1 of my purchasing the *shiny*. i hate pacific mall, and if htey didnt have everything useless you could possibly think of needing, i wouldnt go at all. so anyway, after walking to every corner of that stupid rat maze, i finally found a tiny puter store that sells these "sleeves". it was 'homemade', it was cheap, it is excellent. fits snug as a bug in a rug. i lurve it, i'd've lurved it more if i wasnt so disoriented when i finally found the store, but i lurve it nonetheless.
im also more than willing to spread the knowledge, if anybody needs a laptop sleeve ask me where that store is cuz the ppl there are super nice and they have EVERY size or else they can custom make it for you.
(ya they should be paying me to advertise for them...)
but anyway you have no idea how long ive hunted for this stupid lil piece of taped together foam stitched up in nylon casing slapped shut with velcro.

ok done now.

My New *Shiny*:

Well, if getting a new *shiny* doesnt warrent a new post I dont know what will. That's right folks, I'm back after a loooong hiatus from the blog world. Did you miss me?Eeh, i figure i should update now if only to appease the masses and the lynch mobs. "updaaaate!!!" "No! YOU update!" and the sad part is? they do. damnation people, stop taking my suggestions.

anyway, back to the laptop: Toshiba M50 model - 14" wide screen, 100G HD space, speakers with BASS, and the best part being that it's BLUE!! it's my new baby. i havnt named it yet, so we're sticking with *shiny* for now. i LURVE it :D
(full specs
here for those of you who piddle over these things)

sooo lets see what new attractions have been added to WndWorld shall we?

why else would i be updating unless i have disgusting amounts of work to be done right? Right. ('and for your prize, you get a switchblade') I wont bore you with the details but it's enough to make me wanna dive head first into a large bucket o' Ben & Jerry's when i finally hand in everything.

i'll be back here for spring term and next year to get into & finish off an Engrish degree. technically i can graduate this spring with Econ but i dont wanna, and i figure queens has taken enough of my money over the years such that i dont really want to pay them twice to rent the graduating robes. but, since im here for 6 weeks doing 2.5 credits ('for those of you who've guessed she's crazy, step right up to claim your very own straight jacket! brand new shiny buckles on a bleach white canvas'), i get to see my friends after their graduation ceremonies - laughing at those whose bums have gone numb from sitting for 6 hrs :D - and meeting parents i dont know and grannies with chapeaus.

so many people are doing NOVA that i might just have to go visit them in japan. i dont really know how thats gonna happen just as yet, but seems like a very possible option since everyone will be stationed at different cities. and then if im not too broke, i can "swing by" china to visit some relatives. sounds like a plan.

HOUSING!!! (AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!)

for awhile back, i thought that id have to pay double rent over the summer if we didnt manage to find subletters. since our lease goes from sept to sept, and most other leases go from may to may, it looked pretty hopeless until..........dumdumdum i got offered:
1) a room with
sci'44 co-op (accepted)
2) discipline facilatator for
main campus (confirmed)
3) operations coordinator for west campus (in the process of hiring)

ALL this weekend. um...wtf mate? so while it is a good situation to be in, i was actually overwhelmed by the amount of choice that i had. so after 2 days of thinking and weighing the pros/cons, ive finally decided to take #3. room&board, compensation, and i wont have to make nice with the froshies that are coming in cuz while they ask we keep an "open door policy", its not my job to deal with their problems. oh, and i get POWER..uh i mean...responsibility since it is a management position. so, cross your fingers for me that theyll hire me otherwise i'll be stuck with facilatating snot-nosed lil boys and girls ('she doesnt give a crap' is the right answer! c'mon up to collect your prize: the eye-gouger'). eh, i jest. just so you dont think me a completely terrible person, i DO enjoy meeting new people - but they better not be boring :P

and finally, subletting.
somebody needs to sign a summer lease already. and buy some furniture.
moving out is gonna be SO much fun. i dont know how ive managed to accumulate so much CRAP. its everywhere - every corner of my room is jammed full of stuff. maybe i should draw up a budget for myself next year....

well, thats all folks thanks for playing. remember to tune in next week: same bat channel, same bat time.
(ya i dunno, i think thats the wrong wording anyway. aaaaaand...one more picture :)

BLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUE!!!!
