The longest blackout in North American history
proved to be:

BORING
Indeed had to resort to reading by candlelight cuz i was so damn bored and didn't want to sleep yet. HOLY COW it was boring. from 4pm until 11pm (the earliest i have EVER slept). I tried to amuse myself by pestering my sister, but that quickly tired itself out..plus she was freaking out over her piano exam so perhaps i was being unfair.

EXCITING
Went over to my aunt's place for dinner cuz she has a BBQ and we got hot water outta that..had instant noodles :) better than nothing and definately better than cold, canned soup.
Around the time when the sun was setting, people from all over the neighbourhood went outside for a stroll in the park. It looked so peaceful. Everyone was being so nice to each other in the streets..how odd is that?
For once I was able to see the stars when night finally set in. In the city! My sister and I found the Big Dipper..we were estatic. The sky was so bright! Whoever thought you'd be able to see the stars here?? and all you needed was a power outage :D

Pretty Damn Funny
Of course with the power being out, the traffic lights go with it: duh. Well, I find it hilarious that pedestrians are taking it upon themselves to direct traffic at various intersections. I mean, yes I'm grateful that there is some order being created by these self-appointed traffic guards, but then again...passing by i see that they're only teenagers, some in their 20's, some i think are actual crossing guards since they have the vest..but mostly, teenagers getting a kick out of a bad situation. Standing in the middle of an intersection and having all these cars obeying your every gesture: man, what a power trip that must be.

FRIGHTENING
For the sole reason that we do not know when the power will go out again, or since the news keeps saying that we're on a rotating power schedule...the power could go out at any given moment and once again, we duno when it's coming back on again.
Then of course theres:
Looters (surprisingly few downtown)
Me (or my sister), knocking down a candle and torching the house
PITCH BLACK DARKNESS (well duh) such that you cant see your hands RIGHT in front of your face. A little scary...just a smidgeon.
Pesky sounds of nature. Damn bugs/insects having a field day with their chirping and mating calls..how the hell is anyone suppose to get any sleep?!
